Roxana Robinson, Susan Shapiro, Tim W. Brown, Daniela Gioseffi, Bella Stander Events

NBCC member events:

Roxana Robinson organized a reading of The House of Mirth, to celebrate Edith Wharton’s 150th birthday, at the Center for Fiction on January 26th. Twenty-four women writers, including NBCC fiction award winner Jennifer Egan, two-time NBCC fiction finalist Jayne Anne Phillips, Lily Tuck, Roxana Robinson, NBCC board member Jane Ciabattari, and NPR's Jacki Lyden and others read the beautiful, powerful novel continuously for 4 ½ hours to a packed audience.

To celebrate her new addiction book Unhooked, NBCC board member Susan Shapiro will moderate an addiction book panel  Wednesday 2/29 from 6:30 to 8:30  at NYU's  bookstore, 726 Broadway. Panelists include:  Dave Itzkoff (Cocaine’s Son)  Koren Zailckas (Smashed), agents Ryan Harbage and  Betsy Lerner (Food & Loathing ), and   Unhooked coauthor Frederick Woolverton.

Tim W. Brown moderates the panel “Present at the Creation: The Chicago Poetry Revolution of the 1980s and 1990s” at the AWP Annual Conference in Chicago at 4:30 p.m. on March 3, 2012. Panelists include Luis J. Rodriguez (NBCC finalist  in Autobiography), Sharon Mesmer, Kurt Heintz, and Paul McComas.

Daniela Gioseffi will read from her prize winning poetry collection “Blood Autumn,”  wiinner of The John Ciardi Award for Lifetime Achievement in Poetry at The Walt Whitman Birthplace Museum, Huntington, L.I. New York on March 4th, Sun. 1-3 PM. A reception will precede the reading at noon. Details here.

At the Virginia Festival of the Book on March 23 and 24, Bella Stander will give a Book Promotion 101 workshop and moderate two programs: “Making the Breakout Book,” with Robert Goolrick (A Reliable Wife), agent Lynn Nesbit, and Algonquin Books editor Chuck Adams and publicist Michael Taeckens; and “Young Adult Fiction: Heroes, Demons & Bad Roommates.”
