Some Good News from NPR.org

By NBCC

After the gloomy notices on Friday of rumored cutbacks in book review pages in the LA Times and the Chicago Tribune—as well as the apparent demise of the Newark Star-Ledger book section*—comes a promising development at NPR.org, as Calvin Reid reports in Publisher’s Weekly. “We’re building up our book coverage because book content really works for our audience,” NPR senior supervising producer Joe Matazzoni told Reid. “Books are among the top three topics attracting traffic to the NPR site.” New additions to the site include “Books We Like,” a series of short reviews, and “Three Books We Like,” roundups of titles dedicated to a single topic.
