OUR EMILY DICKINSON: A 21 st Century Response by Artists & Writers
Jen Bervin, Susan Howe, Eliot Weinberger & Brenda Wineapple
Susan Howe, author of the recently reissued My Emily Dickinson, joins literary scholar Brenda Wineapple, multidisciplinary artist Jen Bervin and former NBCC finalist Eliot Weinberger in presenting a 21st century response to Dickinson’s work. The participants will explore the latent avant-garde aspects of Dickinson’s poems, the typographical revolution of her markings and use of the page, issues of public access to Dickinson’s manuscripts and a wide range of questions relating to Dickinson’s life, work and literary legacy. Co-sponsored by New Directions and the Tribeca Performing Arts Center at BMCC.
