Three National Book Critics Circle Award honorees—Jayne Anne Phillips, a fiction finalist for her novel Machine Dreams, Lily King, a fiction finalist for her novel Euphoria, and Anthony Marra, winner of the NBCC’s inaugural John Leonard Award for first book—read from their work for 20 minutes each and discuss the challenges of writing novels—especially first novels—in a moderated conversation with critic Jane Ciabattari, NBCC Vice President/Online.
